Install tools for subversion (this step and the next).Start Eclipse and create or select your workspace. Thus, all tools ( Eclipse, Java, and cygwin) must be all 32 bit or all 64 bit. Note that Eclipse is a Java application and in Windows, it will be compiling code to run in cygwin. Eclipse is available in 32 or 64 bit versions 64 bit is preferred if possible on your computer. These steps were first written when using Eclipse Indigo (version 3.7), but other versions should work by similar steps. Download and install Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers.Subversion will be used to directly check out the code from google code into an Eclipse project (even though you should have checked out the nairn-mpm-fea project to verify command-line compile, this process will checkout another copy for compiling in Eclipse): You will need Eclipse and will need to install tools for subversion. The first steps (which are only needed once) are to install and prepare Eclipse for C/C++ development. Prepare for C/C++ (and Java) Development in Eclipse For those who really want to use Eclipse, this page is left up and may have some helpful hints. You should switch to alternative methods for compiling. Because googlecode is no longer supported by Google, this method no longer gets the current code. An option for any other platform (and an alternative option for Mac and Windows) is to use the cross-platform IDE Eclipse, which is an open-source and free IDE. On Mac (or Windows), you can use XCode (or Visual Studio) and the nairn-mpm-fea project has both an XCode project and a Visual Studio solution ready to use. Working with source code is easier when done using an integrated development environment (IDE) rather than using basic text editing on a collection of source files.
